Swarm has created a series of pouches, totes and pillows utilizing paintings within Swarm's personal collection. Each image has been photographed and faithfully reproduced on a heavy cotton fabric to capture the texture, color and canvas of the original piece. Bringing the artwork to a new life.
The earliest known examples of paper marbling date back to 12th-century Japan, where a technique called *suminagashi*, meaning “floating ink,” was developed. In Turkey, marbled papers were also used as a safeguard against document forgery, as each pattern was unique and difficult to replicate.
Inspired by these centuries-old techniques, Swarm has created a collection of one-of-a-kind pillows. Each pillow is crafted through individual dye dips on cotton canvas, producing distinctive patterns and color variations. The resulting panels are thoughtfully selected and combined to complement one another, creating a truly unique piece that celebrates the beauty of handcrafted design.
