Carpet bag - No. 3
Dating back 100's of years ago, table carpets or tafel tapijt were often used in many a Dutch home and cafe. They served as tablecloths, coat rack backings and runners for mantelpieces. They were unsuitable to walk on and therefore never lay on the floor. The textile is a pile fabric - like plush and velvet. Often made of mohair, their flexibility, rich color palette and distinctive carpet designs certainly contributed to their popularity.
