Boro Chair IV
Boro textiles, are 19th and early 20th century patchworks of indigo-dyed cloths, a custom of the labouring classes, boro meaning ragged in Japanese. Born out of necessity, these quilts were constructed and repaired, resulting in remarkably beautiful and unexpected arrangements. To recreate this effect authentically, the denim cloths for the Boro Table have been salvaged from markets and thrift stores in Northern Europe, and show a varying degree of age, wear and tone. The slender midcentury aesthetic of the chrome base combines with the hardened denim resulting in a surprising post-modern delicacy
